There are others of us that could use a class on such things,
I don t know how to use Instagram or Twitter, and I have a Twitter h\account,
Right not I have pictures in my phone that I cant download, sinc
the cord has went missing, Problems with one half blind and
one confused person in a messy house
@Cairenn_Day, there are YouTube videos, Pinterest “pins”, and tons of other resources to help maximize the usage of Social Media to get you started.
If you want to suggest a “How to Use Social Media for Personal and Professional Purposes” type class (or whatever depths of instruction that you may be looking for…), I would suggest that you post a new thread in either the “PR” category (Public Relations) -or- the “Interest Check” category (#classrooms:interest-check) to see if any of our members would be interested in creating a class for something like that…
As far as getting help downloading photos from your phone…
If you are wanting to know how download/transfer photos from your phone in order to add photos of yourself in your own thread in this “Faces of Dallas Makerspace” category (#off-topic:my-face), I would suggest that you create your own thread and mention that you would really appreciate some help transferring some photos from your phone to Your “Faces of Makerspace” thread.
If you are wanting to know for more general reasons and do not wish to create your own “Faces of Makerspace” thread for any reason, then I would suggest creating a new thread in the “Maker Matters” category (Maker Matters) to request assistance with downloading the photos from your phone to your member drive, laptop, thumb-drive, etc…
:bulb: Regardless of which category you choose to create the new thread in, you might consider including what model of phone you have, so the member(s) can also possibly look into whether they may have a spare cable that will work with your particular phone to make transferring the photos easier. ;) :)
All that said, since this particular thread is Beth’s own thread, if you have any other questions, please create a new thread (as suggested in my responses above) so Beth’s thread can focus on her…
Edit to update: I have split this off into it’s own thread so others can find it easier and possibly toss around some links to good resources to help you and others…
Google Photos - If you don’t have a Gmail account you have to do that first. Then you install the Google Photos app on your phone and tell it to back up your photos and videos. You can tell it to do that only when you’re on Wi-Fi too, to save your data.
There are two options for Google Photos - Unlimited storage but your pics may be downsized to 16 megapixels, or a paid option to keep the original resolution. Unless you have a newer DSLR with more than 16 megapixels, the free option is probably good.
You can also easily upload pics from your computer to Google Photos.
Once your pics are there you can organize them into albums, share some or keep it all private, etc. If you have a Chromecast, you can point its screensaver at a Google Photos folder- kinda fun for family gatherings!
You can also share a photo from Google Photos onto most other social media with a couple of clicks.
