On Sunday July 21st I will be hosting a lecture on Gen AI Security, Transparency, and Ethics. This is an import foundational topic for everything the AI SIG will build on at the makerspace. I plan an hour lecture with 30 minutes of Q&A.
What’s your background/credentials? Are you giving the lecture? Or are you just hosting for someone else? Most events i don’t ask but for this one it kinda matters.
Also when you talk about transparency and ethics is this a philosophical discussion?
25+ Years working for IBM.
I have earned IBM’s Digital certificate Generative AI Architect
I will be giving the lecture
There will will be philosophical items but my goal is to discuss how these thing pertain to makers specifically.
Also I will add the past AI SIG meeting we did review the material as a group so while I am leading it, I am not the only voice that went into preparing for this lecture.
This sounds interesting but who is the intended audience for this? And what can they take away from the lecture?
Are you planning classes about various applications of AI?
That is a great question.
It is intended for Makers.
Why do I keep it that vague? Because this lecture is based on the AI SIG Mission statement. Artists are very polarized over this subject. The reason we are starting the SIG and everything we do at the makerspace with this is that we want to promote a constructive environment where Artists/Makers understand not only how to use the tools but how to do it in a way that is constructive and protect their rights as well as the rights of others.
I take this very seriously and even when looking at projects I do personally or professionally I always keep these ideas in mind.
We are planning some classes as well. They are still in the planning phases. A few examples of these classes
- Prompt Engineer
- LoRa/Embedding Training
- RAG API
I am very excited for the second one because I have some great ideas to make that a very fun class and include not just AI but also Digital Media.
Just a bump on this. Today at 4PM. It will be a very exciting conversation.
