Gauging Interest in Classes on Software/Web Development and/or Computer Science Topics

Hey all. Professional software developer here. Just thought I’d see what kind of techy things, if any, y’all might be interested in taking a class on. My specialty is NodeJS/Express web applications but am proficient in several other technologies as well. Even if I’m not an expert in a technology I relish the opportunity to learn new ones so if there’s a topic that people are interested in I’d be willing to dive in and put together something teachable about it. I’d love to teach a class on creating visual designs using p5.js (see my instagram @algoartchannel)

I’d be interested in Node and also HTML5 game development. And Android app creation, especially with Kotlin.

I’d bet that there at least five Makers who want to know how to make and run their own static website for promoting their products/designs/projects/special-event-photos. You know, just simple things like:

  1. How to search-for, obtain, and activate a domain name cheaply.
  2. How to host your website for pennies on AWS.
  3. How to use Wordpress or an equivalent for site-making.
  4. How to submit your site to search engines and other basic SEO optimization.
  5. How to make open graph cards for links.
  6. How to use simple ecommerce plug-ins/services.

But then again, maybe I’m wrong.

Thanks for all the responses! Glad to know there are some interested folks out there. Expect to see some website building and intro to node classes on the calendar coming up soon!

Personally, I’d love to learn more web dev, and I think David hit on a common want around here with a personal website for hocking our weirdo arts and crafts, because I too may want to hock said arts and crafts. I’d particularly like to know about the ecommerce bits and just see what I can learn from a pro web dev guy.
