There’s an event tomorrow night about a new makerspace in Garland? I think?
Does anyone have more info about this I’m very curious.

I was wondering about this.
Are they just seeking information and guidance or do they want some kind of partnership?
I went and met with the Mayor last Tuesday after reaching out him in July after reading about them wanting to start a makerspace in the July issue here https://www.garlandtx.gov/gov/lq/publicmedia/press.asp. They have come up with a small committee and I will be working with them. At this point it is very early on and they are not sure of a model, affiliation with the DMS or anyting like that at the moment.
This meeting is for the people who are part of the mayors committee to see our Makerspace. Randy is a member and was on the city council for Garland for several years and is part of that committee as well. He put this event on the calendar and it is for that committee to discuss things. He put it as needing approval so I don’t believe it is open for others to waltz in.
Just to put this in perspective I have met with Coppell in the last 3 weeks along with the Walsh group starting their Makerspace in their housing development. I believe in spreading Making as much as possible and will always answer questions on how we operate, what has worked and what hasn’t worked for us. If you know of other areas starting makerspaces, feel free to send them my way.
CORRECTION: Meeting is open fro people to come and watch but not participate.

Oddly enough, I’ve been discussing a Makerspace with a current city councilman from Garland. He was unaware of this meeting but will be unable to attend as there is a council meeting tonight.
