Future CNC Mill Training (HAAS)?

Just curious if there are any talks of training for the CNC mill. I had a lengthy conversation with some gentlemen at the space a few weeks back about the CNC mill and training. I was asking about making a motorcycle brake mount and they mentioned the HAAS software license expiring. Not sure if this was ever remedied, but I’d love to learn how to operate the machine if it has been.

Forgive me if this has already been asked, I searched the calendar and the forum for any talks or scheduled classes with no luck.

it was discussed today at the machine shop committee meeting and last week at the HSM meeting…
FeatureCam is gone. Not our doing - Autodesk who owns Delcam has done away with perpetual licences. Fortunately, HSMworks is free (to educational entities like DMS). The two downsides is the entire tool library has to be standardized per material because HSM does it differently than FeatureCam. The second problem is the entire training class has be be retooled under HSM and even the CNC supervisor has to learn it first. It sounds like it will be a while before training can resume unless there is an existing HSM expert willing to volunteer.
Don’t forget that what can be done on the CNC can probably be done manually on the manual mill.
Cheers!

Except non North-South-East-West lines and circles larger than your largest cutter. Unless of course you’re VERY good at Etch-A-Sketch.

The rotary table makes both of these items possible.

Non-circular curves are about the only thing you can’t do manually.

Thank you Walter. I never said it was easy but it was all done before the CNC. sometimes you just have to take the time to build the jig first to get you where you want to be.
The OP mentioned a motorcycle brake mount so I’m guessing a big pocket for the reservoir. not impossible.

FWIW, you can breed large dogs from small dogs too. Sorry I saw the gray area.

Kent, the problem is that there will be no new HAAS users for a while… New training materials needed. New tool cribs needed…
