Fusion 360 40% price increase (imminent)

Received an email today announcing an impending price increase in the Fusion 360 subscription price. It’s about 40% increase.

Effective January 30, 2024, the new subscription prices will increase to the following:

  • $85 USD SRP / paid monthly
  • $680 USD SRP / paid annually
  • $2,040 USD SRP / paid every 3 years

All current annual subscribers will receive a renewal price lock at the current price of $490 USD SRP until 2027. The new subscription renewal price will be reflected on renewal terms starting after February 6, 2027.

It looks to me that despite the vacuous posturing and palavering they are trying to discourage hobbyists.

Do you know how well Solidworks for Makers (3DExperience) matches up to the Fusion 360 option you reference? 3DEXPERIENCE SOLIDWORKS for Makers

I am under the impression that if you use solid works, you will have to use master cam for CAM. Since we do have a limited number of master cam licenses, that should not be a problem. I

I do not know for certain because fusion 360 is the only full/feature CAD/CAM program that runs on Mac in native mode. Solidworks does not run on Mac.

Solidworks supports CAM for certain. The student version we have for members is licensed for CAD and CAM.

I keep forgetting you have an OS X requirement; very true that though you might look into due to the $99/year cost for SW. You could always run it in a VM, which is where Windows belongs anyway IMHO
