Come to find out the Soviets went bigger,
The Tupolev Tu-2 was a Soviet bomber built to compete with the German JU-88 and the Murican B-26. Drunk Russians then decided to mount 11 rows of 8 PPSh-41s to clear out a trench. Unfortunately, even if all 88 guns didn’t malfunction (which they did) the Hedgehog would expend all its ammo in 4 seconds, which required 100 man hours to reload all the drum mags. Even at its max speed of 325 mph (at an unloaded weight) it would only cover a 4x1900 ft area with bullets. At the much more likely cruising speeds it would bomb at, it would cover under a 4x1000 ft area before running out of ammo. On top of that, since the PPSh-41 only shot the 7.62x25mm which topped out at 570 ft-lbs (770 J), the bomber would have to dive under 800 ft to actually be effective, making it a sitting duck. Alas it never flew a combat mission
