Free wood, bring chainsaw

Tree just fell in my neighbors yard, I’m sure they wouldn’t mind if someone wanted some wood.

What do you suppose is the moisture content of that wood?

:rofl:

Less than 100%?

There’s a tear-down in Richardson at the corner of West Shore and Creekdale - I believe the actual address is 119 West Shore. There are two gigantic stumps from trees they ripped out. I believe they’re oaks, but not sure. I’m talking too big around to wrap your arms, and six feet tall, with part of the root ball still attached. So big the city didn’t pick 'em up on the last bulk collection day.

If someone wanted to turn a gigantic bowl, this might be the wood for you :smiley:

any idea what type of tree it is? A super off-the-cuff guess would be bradford pear.

I’m not sure, but it’s been cut up and is in the front now. No chainsaw needed.

Csn you id it from this? I rolled the largest piece into my back yard. I may grab some more tonight.

@HankCowdog @indytruks138 guesses?

I am thinking bradford pear, which is very nice for turning.

Bradford Pear would be my guess as well. Smooth(ish) trunk, pale wood, not much figure.

The multiply crotched trunk in the original photo is also telling.

Sweet. Good thing I nabbed a pile of it.
