If you happen to drop a few cutoffs in my personal bin, I’d be grateful. I need to play with some steel on the metal lathe before I get back to teaching.
I have just the project for you.
I understand there is a porta band some place , I have never seen it but have heard about it.
Good idea - I have one of those too. Probably would make cleaner cuts.
front cabinet in the metal shop by the door. If you don’t already have access to it PM me.
I got a chunk cut off for you. I put it on a high shelf next to the powder coat oven in the Metal Shop. Note that it is a bit greasy - wear gloves or bring towels/degreaser to clean.
Got about 22” for you - plenty to work with.
Cut pretty well with Milwaukee portable band saw though my blade kept hopping off on 2nd cut.
thank you this will be a big help.
Fyi, the dumpster at the makerspace is now empty. Anything that was left in it has been hauled off.
Only got it half cleaned up before going through the two batteries I brought, diablo carbide sawzall blade worked great. I piled up some of the clean metal if someone wants to grab it before I can get back to finish disposing of it
Isn’t that an M18 system? Metal has batteries for those.
So, @ioport51, what did you end up making with the steel?
Nothing yet, plans for dolly to load and unload shelves in powder coat oven. hopefully @malcolmputer has position of it by now.
I haven’t. I was up there yesterday and it slipped my mind. I won’t be back up to DMS until Saturday.
