I just had the garage door springs replaced and have the old ones . Its high carbon steel - tension coiled spring. If someone wants it for a project or as blade-stock ( yes - it’s be a LOT of work to turn this into blade billets - but who knows ) I’ll be happy to bring the coils up to the space. One spring is intact - the other is in two pieces.

drop me a note if you want them.
The half spring has been claimed - The whole spring is still available.
I’ve used metal like this (from my own replaced garage door) to make “petal lifter” tools for leatherworking. Worked just great. I still have several coiled feet left over, so I’ll pass.
Blacksmiths at DMS might be interested in using it to make coil damascus…
Not sure if this is helpful or not - but whenever I’ve priced metal rings they’ve always seemed unusually expensive in my opinion. Awhile back I used a couple broken torsion springs to make a bunch of rings to build the below pony gate that a neighbor commissioned me for.
Also, just realized I still have this portion of my initial design that I have no use for and would happily donate if anybody wants to make rings out of your torsion spring to finish it off to meet their own needs…
