Free glass - for covering prints, textiles, etc

Nicole & CA:

Does anyone in CA (certainly the most organised group of makers at the Space) have a need / want for clear glass the type that is used in art and picture framing? (or any other project)…

I am purging my inventory of regular glass that I never (rarely) use. I’d rather it go into frames of your makers vs my dumpster. Sizes would vary of course mostly 16x20 of smaller, although I do have some larger pieces. I will cut it to size (rectangles only-90 degrees) for those interested.

I also have some “non glare” available.

Tom,
I’m trying to put together a class on building a lantern with the sheet metal tools. The glass may be a welcomed point for the project.

Tim,

Let me know if what I have will work for you & your class. I do have a large piece of heavier glass that was on a piece that was re-framed with different glazing. It is about a tenth of an inch thick - might survive your students…

None of this glass is “safety” or “tempered” (that note should satisfy the overly critical folks here)

Just to be clear (a pun) this glass is FREE per the title.

Call it a donation whatever.

It is not an endless supply (a few know what my day job is) but it is spring cleaning time.

For the Sierra club fans - this glass is not recyclable

Tom I’ll take a couple of panes for the stained glass class if you’re willing. Let me know when and I’ll head out to DMS. I can cut them pretty easily unless they are huge.

2’x2’ is perfect, but I can use almost any size.

Dan,

I don’t have any coloured / stained glass…however a good friend of mine is a local commercial stained glass fabricator and I can ask him for some glass for your class etc.

here is an example of one of his fabrications for a replacement window for a bathroom:
