Floppy drive to USB

My friend has an older embroidery machine (it makes me think of a 2 axis cnc) where the files are loaded on a floppy drive. I know older CNC machines had files loaded via floppy and figured someone surely has experience updating to new technology. She has picked up a USB (external) floppy drive but it reads and won’t write to the disk.
What is the best plan of attack?
1 find something that will convert the floppy connection port on the machine to usb?
2 get an external usb floppy drive that will read/write on her Mac?
Thanks

Have you tried the write protection switch on the floppy?

It’s been ages since I’ve used one, so that’s about as much help as I can offer as of now.

Yes, check the WP switch.

There are devices that will replace floppy drives but YMMV on using them on non-DOS/Linux systems.

Well crap, that would be too easy! It has been a long time for me as well! I forgot about that lock out! I’ll check into it!

That’s an interesting converter! I’ll check into that too! Thanks!
