Feedback on my company Logo and Business Card

Since we have a wealth of knowledge here, I’d like some feedback on these business cards I made for my company on VistaPrint. The dotted border is VistaPrint’s “safe line” so that will go away when they’re printed.

The logo still needs a couple tweaks and any feedback on that would be welcomed, too.

The line around your logo is past the cut-off line, is that intentional?

Yeah, I know from experience that the safety line is very generous so the slight overlap will be fine.

It’s more of a “print area” line than where they’ll cut the card.

I would consider flipping the K over so that the break is on the bottom edge, to suggest a trigger.

Ah, the BankGothic MD BT font or a close variant.

I would suggest “Proprietor” rather than “Purveyor”.

Yeah, the font choice on VistaPrint is limited… heh.

The reason I used “Purveyor” is because I’ll be selling/dealing. “Proprietor” indicates that I’m the owner but that wouldn’t really fit with the “telling people what the company does” theme.

Never thought of that… I’m going to try it and see how it looks.

Don’t misunderstand - I not only enjoy the font myself, but I suspect it will be pleasing to your target audience with its sharp lines.

Naturally the cut is larger than the dotted “safety” line, but I still would stay within that. Especially a place like Vista print, while you may have gotten a good cut the first time, it may not be so great the next and you can end up with half your cards having your logo unevenly cropped. :\ I worked at a printer and saw this happen from time to time.

For the front, it’d be good to tighten the tracking (space) between the letters. They’re spread out pretty far and the kerning on this font isn’t the greatest, so you end up with wide and inconsistent spacing between individual letters. If you tighten them up, you’d be surprised how cleaner it looks and how much more cohesive the individual words feel.

I would also suggest, overall, not centering the front content, but rearranging it with clear lines of justification. It’s tempting to center everything, but this creates uneven, ragged lines of content. On the other hand, aligned text and elements create good strong lines that do wonders for the design. Especially with your name being about precision, that would really reinforce the feel. This link is more specifically about UI and text, but illustrates the basic principle.
