Eye tracking communication for ICU patient

I could really use an eye tracking communication tool, for an intubated ICU patient, my wife, who is at Baylor. Is this something that someone could help with?

Is this what you are looking for? I have never tried it so I can’t tell you if it works or not or how hard it might be, but it looks promising.

Was looking at GP3 Eye Tracking Device - Affordable, Research-Grade Equipment | Gazepoint for
work, price isn’t bad for an off the shelf system (win only) but I’ve seen
some much cheaper and more open homemade projects that appear doable.
Sorry to hear about you wife and would be happy to help. Assuming this
makes it to you, please contact me off list: jhaskins at dallasmakerspace

Yes, but the hardware is six week delivery times

Something that I think would work here is a bit of open source software called Dasher (http://www.inference.phy.cam.ac.uk/dasher/DasherSummary2.html) which is a zooming, predictive, text interface that follows the mouse (and then in turn, linking the mouse control to some generic head/eye tracking software, such as http://www.cameramouse.org) and a webcam. I can “type” about 15 works a minute using this (and could get up to around 20 when I actually was using this). The zooming is a bit disorienting at first but it becomes very obvious very quickly that it is much more efficient (partially due to the speed but mainly due to the predictive text) than trying to type on a virtual onscreen keyboard. If you want, I can probably throw together the software, webcam and a laptop.
