There is too much excess equipment in the Warehouse. The contract Electricians are having to move pallets around to get their own stuff done.
Something has to go if we plan to have Professional Heavy Equipment Riggers on site to move the Machine Shop equipment into this area within the next month or so. There is also no room for Fired Arts, Jewelry, and Glassmaking when they start moving their equipment in as well.
Excess warehouse items include:
Pallets of old paint
Old Laser from the Laser Committee
Pallet of old florescent light bulbs
Old wood working tools to be sold (?), saws, drill press, etc.
A dozen+ cloth covered chairs, many are broken
Warehousing racks, more then we will every use
Pallets of plywood, full sheets and partial pieces
Pallets of steel pipe
Many wood crates that are unmarked
Blacksmithing tools (move to your trailer if possible)
Automotive pallets (move to your trailer if possible)
Large Leather working table with granite top (for Creative Arts?)
We filled up a large dumpster once, maybe we need to do it again.
Rich, this is unrealistic during the current situation due to covid-19. When the current “shelter in place” orders are lifted, I’m sure we can find a solution.
That leatherworking table was supposed to be trashed with the last dumpster. But I agree with Brad. This is unrealistic timing due to the current state of affairs.
Creative Arts committee voted to dispose of #12 - leather working table. Unfortunately, the information did not get to the people shoving stuff off the dock and into the giant dumpster, so by the time we figured that out, the dumpster was filled.
As heavy as that thing is (literally a granite tombstone that was miss-carved then repurposed) I don’t know that @jnorine or anybody else in @Team_Creative_Arts could get it out the door.
If the board is willing to finance bigass dumpster 2.0, I’d be willing to help shove it off the dock.
Aren’t the #9 unmarked crates the rest of the dust collection system Woodshop bought?
I agree. The flex area would provide ample storage space for the electricians to work unimpeded. If it’s a question of manpower, surely we can consult the authorities to get a temporary lift on the current orders for a select few members to get in and do the moving work necessary?
A possible interim solution might be to consider renting a 53-foot trailer (With wheel locks) and placing it in the bay door.
We could move materials in to it with a two person crew and buy working space for the contractors.
I have a work exemption for the “shelter in place” I can stop by one of these days on my way home. However someone would still have to meet me to let me in.
Yes, it is on pallets but we are paying electricians good wages to move the stuff as needed.
Yes, I know that nothing can be done at this time because of our lock down status. But, this should give the various Committees some time to determine what should be done via their online communications with each other. Each Committee should take this time to decide the formal disposition of their respective equipment.
I like that idea. Seems like we needed another table, and one that’s heavy enough to not move during wedging would be a bonus. That said, I’m not sure what our footprint looks like.
I’ll see what I can do about 1 and 3 once we get back in. I thought that we’d gotten stuff to ship the bulbs to a recycling center, and some other member said that they’d done it.
It’s a good table if you are at least 6’2” tall. @AlexRhodes, @HankCowdog and I got it out of the offsite storage unit and when I stood next to it, the top was at about my armpits. Alex and Mike pronounced it “perfect” for them.
The tombstone is glued into the wood frame, making remodeling challenging at best. It lived outside at its original home, so it ain’t pretty.
Bottom line, I have to side with Pearce. Not the best use of resources. Aka NOooooooooo!
And I guarandamnteeya that @jnorine would echo that sentiment.
