If you happen to have a white Tesla (or know who does), can you please consider angling your vehicle a little more perpendicularly to the building when charging? The other (J1772) charging cable is much shorter than the Tesla cable; and when you pull in on a sharp angle, you end up making it so the only way to use the other charger is to block your car from leaving… so it effectively takes out both spots. If you approach the building more head on, another car can pull in next to you and you would both have room to leave as needed. Thank you.
How much do we charge for a typical 80% charge?
There is no official charge rate. It’s a donation.
Can a non-member charge up there?
I suppose, in theory, there isn’t anything stopping them from doing so if they knew it was there. The chargers aren’t part of any network… although in reality, AFAIK Tesla Destination Chargers (non-super chargers) run the same basically everywhere. These are just 220V AC chargers. To try to use it to get a full 80% charge would take many, many hours. You’re only going to get a handful of % per hour depending on battery size.
My recollection was that when I joined, non member use was considered an advertising expense. But it really doesn’t seem like a likely place for a random person to charge, with as many more chargers exist now.
I have been looking at different charging options
Excellent!
I was really hoping to jump on the Tesla supercharger drive they had a couple years back; they were literally giving them away and paying for their install at the time. Regrettably i wasn’t able to, and now they have demands for purchasers of the service, including employees on sight to assist drivers during “regular business hours” (we have zero employees and no “regular” hours) and other (in my opinion) silliness.
I hope you’re able to find a way. I thought putting some Tesla chargers along the street side of the business park would be a great advert for us, and the property owners/managers as well as the other businesses we share the lot with.
