Course Description:
The course combines an ethical hacking methodology with the hands-on application of security tools to secure systems. Students are introduced to common countermeasures that effectively reduce and/or mitigate attacks. (3 Lec., 4 Lab.)

Extended Course Description:
Ethical Hacking and System Defense prepares students for a career in ethical hacking (aka penetration testing) and also the learned hacking techniques could help students in defensive security positions to better defend systems from malicious actors. This course goes beyond preparing students for ethical hacking certification exams and teaches students the necessary methodology and tools to perform penetration tests. The course instructor is a professional ethical hacker/penetration tester.
Instructor:
Phillip Wylie is a penetration tester/ethical hacker with over 6 years of penetration testing experience including 5 years consulting for Fortune 100 clients in various industries. Phillip has over 20 years of IT and InfoSec experience. His experience includes 6 years of system administration experience and 14 plus years of InfoSec and AppSec experience. Phillip has performed various penetration test types including application, web application, network and wireless network. Phillip has the following certifications; CISSP, OSCP, GWAPT
