Just took the online test. I think this question is set up incorrectly:
Cutting typically refers to using the laser to make continuous overlapping dots such that the entire thickness is ablated away. If you want to slice through something this is the way to go.
Rastering is where similar to a printer, dots are placed at a density that corresponds to how dark you want the image. Given this different mechanism, raster operations arenāt suitable if you want to cut through a material but it is great at etching an image in the surface.
Edit: I say continuous dots because most laser cutters donāt use continuous lasers with variable output powers (expensive). If you select 50% power for example our lasers will be outputting the same power but just be turned off half the time (similar to how many microwaves work). Instantaneous power is the same but average power is halved.
Just in case anyone else misses the issue like I did, they marked false and then got a message telling them āno, the answer is falseā.
Ahh, thatās fair. I didnāt remember a problem with this question when I took the test a while back so I overlooked the actual issue like you point out. Something must have gotten messed up since then.
Exactly, which is why I posted that the question is set up wrong. I answered āfalseā. The explanation for why I got it wrong says the answer is āfalseā
We take a look at this and see what is happening.
Thanks, and can you adjust my class grade? Important for my DMS transcript
