Engraving a laptop case

I have a couple of laptops that I want to engrave, but have a couple of questions before I risk damaging them.

  1. How do you determine settings since you don’t have a ‘test piece’
  2. Are there any laptops whose case materials shouldn’t be used?
  3. If yes to #2, how do you tell?
  4. Any suggested starting point for settings? (FSL)

I know the DMS laptops were engraved, and I have seen others so I presume this is doable.

Metal laptops (like Macs) would fall into the “do not engrave” bucket unless you have the correct pre-laser coating treatment for them.

Pop the plastics off &try on the inside first?
