Elijah Tooling - super cool fixturing….and they’re local….Denton

They are pricey but super cool!

Clever idea.

OK, those are pretty cool.

That said, why would you want threaded inserts over just holes and pegs? Seems like they are doing a similar job, one is just way more expensive to replace. I guess with a Vacuum Table like the router, the inserts may be able to better retain the suction. Also, using them to bolt into may be nice as well.

What is the use case that these really exceed in?

I looked at them for low-profile threaded holes in the workpiece….like if you wanted to face over the top of it. You could use a countersunk head screw but it limits the low-profile aspect.

I made my own 1/4-20 threaded work hold-down plate. It’s great, but has limitations.

Maybe I’m stupid but what problem are these devices trying to solve? It’s not obvious from the pictures in this post.

If you are in a production shop, especially a job shop, being able to create tools it fixturing for limited runs is very cost effective. There are generally a lot more holes to work with.

The tool room can do the fixture set-up and the machine operator just mounts the setup. This maximizes machine run time and often allows the operator to run more than machine.
