Electronics Lab Purge - Last Chance to Get Parts

Back on topic, @Lampy, let me know when you plan the purge and I will try to be there and salvage things that look like they might be worth stocking. It will be easier to see where we are that way anyway.

Looking to start stocking very basic stuff in one easy to find place. My impression is that a lot of the scrounging around in the eLab is for some very basic stuff.

Starting Basic Electronics Parts list. This is to be organized in a 1-2 multi-drawer cabinets painted red or something that stands out. Most of these parts can be sourced from our own stocks, otherwise Tannerā€™s. Feel free to add/delete what you think is useful.

Looks like we are going to dive in on Tuesday Feb 9th 6pm.

I have ordered a donation box and will pick up 2 trashcans this weekend. Weā€™ll be putting a shelf up with the donation box and some baggies & containers above the cans.

After the purge I want to reuse these trashcans in the eLab. Our large can disappeared.

You know itā€™s bad when people steal the trash cans!!

I donā€™t think it was stolen just repurposed somewhere else in DMS.

18pF and 30pF caps. Useful for crystal oscillators on microcontrollers.

mpf102 jellybean mosfets

Higher power logic level mosfets, Art can point out the ones we already have in stock

Some negative rail voltage regulators.

I would also include 100k and 1M trim pots

We have tubes of N and P chnl pwr fets (data sheets available) - KEEP
We have tubes of logic and analog ic - KEEP
We have tubes of identifiable SMD parts - KEEP
There are SMD LEDs that could be used for classes/building door prizes w/blinky lights.
Keep SIP resistors.
Keep 0.1 - 0.33 uF caps (bypass caps for logic)
Keep tantalum caps (yellow/orange/blue drop)

Fred has designated 3 cabinets and casters for the lab. We will need to build some kind of sub frame w/casters.

We need to come up with some way to store the spools of wire.

Realized I cannot do Tuesday, how about Wednesday or Thursday?

Noooooooooooo

OK, we need it nailed down so I can show up with my son to help. :slightly_smiling:

I also still need to fix that power supply for the lab.

I could do Wednesday but not Thursday. Not that my presence is a requirement.

Canā€™t do Thursday. Wednesday is Ok.

Wednesday is good here.

Wednesday is good for me

Iā€™ll help on Wednesday, too.

Wednesday it is at ~6pm. Thanks for all the offers of help!

Wednesday works for me!

I will be there as soon as I can after work to help.

Hello ā€” New-ish member here. Iā€™m glad I checked the postings before driving over to help Tuesday evening. Was looking forward to meeting some folks, clean-up is a good way to do that. I canā€™t on Wednesday. So hello to all and I look forward to meeting you some other time.
