Education sub committee?

In the PR meeting we got to talking about how to make sure new
member stayed members

The problem of required classes was seen as a one issue and another was
a need for a new member orientation class New folks don t know where to find
the tolls they can use, or basic rules for committee area

Another idea was some ‘samples’ to get them hooked This would take some work by committees
and even a small cost My first thought for jewelry was to have some copper with a texture from the
rolling mill on it and then folks could punch a piece to make a pendent, under supervision

Do we need a education sub committee to work on these things

I would suggest that first we need data to see what problem(s) we should be addressing, and then prioritize those. It’s possible that some people join and only intend to stay for a month or two to finish a specific project - which would be a completely different issue.

There is already a Training Development Special Interest Group. I’m not suggesting it’s the same thing as what you’re proposing, just alerting you to it.
