Did anyone feel that earthquake? I felt it near Irving, I’m not sure it made it to Carrollton.
I’m just north of Belt Line and Josey. It was pretty obvious here. Mag 3.3 centered just south of Lake Carolyn according to USGS.
A few people at the space felt it, I didn’t notice it though.
Maybe DMS should set up their own seismometer? We could hook it up to a giant, red light and siren for the big one!
Definitely felt it here in Farmer’s Branch/Addison.
Yep. Spring Valley @ I35… rumble rumble.
I was at home in Euless yesterday and my wife felt it, but I didn’t.
I felt the last batch in at home in Garland (4 stories up as well, so more pronounced I suppose). This time, I was on the road out of Irving but didn’t feel a thing :\
Hehe… I was at the only safe place during one of them… about 12,000 feet in a Cessna T182T. One of these days I’ll have to be in town for one of them.
Oklahoma has a more serious problem with actual damage from earthquakes which scientists attribute to the burying of vast amounts of wastewater from oil and gas exploration. Yet Oklahoma law prohibits communities from regulating and gas wells in their communities. (Read here)
This past Monday (3/30) A measure just passed the Texas house committee on Energy Resources which, if enacted into law, would similarly prohibit Texas communities from regulating oil and gas exploration within their boundaries. (Also known as the anti-Denton law). (Read here)
I called my state representative to state my opposition to this measure, it was a surprisingly pleasant experience. They picked up on the first ring and were very courteous and attentive. I understand that state representatives are so hounded by lobbyists that they consider it a breath of fresh air when a real constituent calls.
I urge you to call your state representative and let them know how you feel about this bill. Click here to find out who your representative is.
Ha, lobbyists don’t call, their checks come in the mail…hehehehe
