Dynatorch question

I’d like to make a sign for my shop on a piece of 18 gauge sheetmetal. I have access to both Qcad and SheetCam on my personal computer to design the sign. The question is, how do I go about using Qcad or another program to design the text characters, so that I can then import them into SheetCam?

My second question is, is there a font that can be used that will allow connectors to the parts of a character that would normaly be removed, such as the interior section of an “A or a B”?

Finally, what kind of graphics files are needed to include on the SheetCam file, if for instance, I wanted to have a line drawing image of some sorts?

The class of fonts you want are usually called stencils.

I usually just output what I want as a DXF and import into the plasma cutter for cutting.

I do this:

Make a rectangular prism solid body in solidworks
use text feature in 2D sketch → extrude cut the sketch curves – you should now have the solid model of the sign in Solidworks
export face as DXF → close solidworks → join spline paths (in some other software)
import dxf into sheetcam and use the layer in a toolpath
