Dry sub transfer to metal

I am currently registered to attend the Dry Sub 101 class on Monday, just curious though whether or not the heat transfer process would work on brushed or smooth aluminium.

You have to use specially coated metal…

You can get coated aluminum from JDS Industries as part of the group buy that I’m doing right now, and I’ll bring it with me to the class on Monday. https://talk.dallasmakerspace.org/t/holiday-2019-group-buy-for-dye-sub-blanks/65414

Coated aluminum is available in white, or clear coated brushed silver, brushed gold or brushed bronze. Depending on the purpose, for the best results the Chromaluxe metals are super. Check out pages 104 & 105 of the dye sub product catalog linked in the above linked post. I’ve used the Dynasub and Chromaluxe metals with great results.

Have you ever used the SubTHAT! sublimation transfer film?

No, I have not tried SubTHAT!, yet.

I thought it looked intriguing - esp. for wood or for pieces that aren’t configured like a sheet.

The SubTHAT! sample kit is $25.00 if anyone wants to try it.
