Dovetail or Box Joint Jig

Do we have a serviceable small dovetail or box joint jig, router and bit available? Do I need to bring my own bits and router? Need to make some small boxes out of 1/4 Walnut approx. 8" X 10" by 4" deep.

Hi Will.

Wood-shop does have a Porter-Cable dove tail jig; it’s not “small” but it may be smallest model they have. My best understanding is that it is in good working order. I’ve never used that one but I have used a dovetail jig before and they are a bit of a PitA to set-up and dial-in for a particular project/bit. I suggest you bring your own bit for good results. Or you can borrow one of mine :–)

You are already probably aware that box joints are trivial by comparison and jigs for them are dead-easy to make.

Yea so as of a couple weeks ago the only issue with the small dovetail joint insert is we don’t have a bushing small enough or not small enough to fit inside the groves of the jig but we do have the jig itself and everything else needed to use it at the space just not the bushing

@pjolone1 was testing a couple of dovetail jigs a while ago, he might have more info.

It has been well over a year since I have used the dovetail jigs. I don’t know the state of the jigs, bits and bushings. "All should be in the box?
