Door Suite # label and other door problems

Right now we have 2 entrances to maker space, Since I give the Suite number as part of my Dart Taxi address, Could we label the new door with 104 and remove the 104 over the old entrance?

While I’m being a pest, what is the schedule to get the entrance pothole fixed? I have jammed my wheelchair several times onto the door frame because of it (once I thought I was stuck on the door…

Per @Julie-Harris, Board Member, the front entrance sidewalk is the responsibility of the Landlord to fix. The Landlord has been alerted to the situation.

The landlord said they are sending someone out tomorrow to fix this. I’ll be there to meet them.

They never showed up so I contacted the landlord and will update when I know more.

Just curious, what happens if the landlord chooses to ignore the problem? I’m one of the few people it is a safety issue for. My combined weight and the wheelchair is in excess of 340 pounds. I weighed 160 last I checked, my chair is 182 pounds, motors and batteries are not light.

So – here’s my quasi-semi-informed/uninformed opinion –

It’d be a legal matter. There’s a chance that you, as the handicapped person, have resources (official gummint-type resources) who could sue and force the landlord to Fix The Problem. It is my understanding that the threat of such gummint action is what makes a fair-to-moderate number of landlords knuckle under and fix such issues. There could be fines involved…

That said, I suspect letting them know that there’s an actual (as opposed to theoretical) handicapped person being affected might light a smallish fire under them. Especially as this is not an upgrade, but a repair.

Before anyone gets pitchfork and knifey lets let the landlord do its job. They agreed to work on it, there is a plan. Let them execute please.

Agreed. We have no carrot to encourage them with, but they are only dragging their feet a minor bit at the moment.

It has been rescheduled. I’ll be there to meet them - fingers crossed that it works out this time. No need to worry about it, it will get fixed.

I have figured out that the driver will assist me by opening the door using my FOB. Now if I could get the door closers lighted up in the door leading up to the large open space where the electronics lab, glassware, 3D print room, and the T shirt printing is located, it would be perfect… As is I can sort of manage it on my own, it is difficult on the out side of the door (inside is easy-peasy).

In case it’s helpful, the north garage door does have an RFID reader on it already, although of course the front door seems more conveniently located.

Has anyone looked into openers for the interior doors? If someone orders the parts for the flex area door I’ll install them.

Perhaps @richmeyer knows already what we need to do but if not I’ll volunteer also to figure out how we need to do it in order to be compliant.

There was talk about getting a donation of door openers from government building being remodeled.

Stan was working on this contact. Since he is not here I assume the contact information may have been lost in the shuffle.
