Door lock actuators

I noticed when it gets cold my door lock actuators don’t fully engage locking or unlocking the doors. Other than pulling the door panels and replacing them are than any possible tweaks? Are they fairly universal?..as in can I possibly swap them out between different models of the same make? It’s a Chevy van and I’ve got an Impala I’m parting out.

Graphite work if you get at the area the rods go through any kind of sleeve. It worked freeze up when cold

There are usually PTC devices on the lock motors to prevent them from burning out if you lean on the switch for a while. Over time, these devices begun to limit current even under normal load. Fixing them does require removal of the actuator.

Do we have door panel pullers? I understand a thin putty knife covered with a rag can work in a pinch, but these door panels are big and all one piece and I really don’t want to risk cracking or breaking them.

The door panels should be ok, but you should consider any plastic clip on the back to be disposable. They get brittle with age. Get a bag of them from your dealer’s parts department before starting the job.
