Doing precision work

Been working on a project with tolerances of +0/-.0005" all month. Now I’ve got one with +/- .005". Ha! Might as well be a mile. I got this. :yum:

more like an Oh, Crap! if you miss.
BTW, these are gun parts. In the last couple of months the orders have been thru the roof! First doubled, then tripled, now more than quintupled. I lost track at 100,000. Tell me people aren’t worried. I wonder what attendance was like at the gun show today?

Hopefully low. 100,000 new cases reported yesterday, and any time I’ve been to a gun show since Sandy Hook it’s been elbow to elbow.

It isn’t the free for all it once was. They do limit the number of people in the hall at one time and of course masks are mandatory.

There was a time that you could only get that precision with a jig bore. What kind of machine are you using?

It’s a HAAS VF4. Because you can do Radial compensation, you can adjust it .0001" at a time and on the fly.
