Does any one know of a chem lab supply shop?

Hello,

I want to start getting back into chemistry, and was curious if any one knows of a supply shop here in Dallas. I’m very inpatient, and don’t want to buy off line if I don’t have to. I hate the wait. All I need is about 30grams of iron oxide. Also can any one recommend a good heat plate preferably with a stir bar?

We have a hot plate in the science are you could use. Not sure of shops around here, but if you find some let me know

There used to be a shop in Richardson, but they closed years ago. Don’t think there is anything left that specializes in chemical supplies.

Also iron oxide come in many ‘flavors’ and they are not all interchangeable. Best to identify which flavor of iron oxide you need. Iron oxide - Wikipedia

I probably have red iron oxide, not sure if I have any black iron oxide.

I don’t know if the chemical supply house I used once upon a time in Fort Worth even exists anymore. Sorry.
But I’d suggest talking to one of the chemistry professors at one of the community colleges. They tend to be very helpful.

You might try ThermoFisher scientific. Pretty sure they have stirrers. Not sure about the iron oxide. It’s possible I might have a stash from our homeschooling days. I will check.

Trinity ceramics has both Red and black iron oxide. They are local, seems to me their store hours are odd though.

No suggestions on a stirring hotplate.
