Do we need something like this? Locking parcels

I’ve had this happen a few (under 10) times here at dms with deliveries. (And that’s not horrible) but they are “unable to deliver” and send it back. Should we consider/make something akin to this at the doors? Possibly overkill, but just an idea to share out. Not sure it’s really needed but with the expansion I imagine many deliveries coming.

A large percentage of our packages won’t fit in those containers. I believe Stan has or had one of these. A second problem is we can’t put on out front. A third we never know what door they will deliver to nor does this solve a problem when a signature is required.

2nd issue is they are NOT actually at the building. USPS specifically “knows” business are not open on the weekend so, those packages, from the local post office get pencil whipped as “attempted delivery” even though they physically do not leave the post office. Or they run out of time so “attempt delivery” as they end their day.

I had stuff marked as attempted delivery at a Data Center that had staff there 24x7. Really???

Until Amazon finds a way to “make” USPS do their job, this will continue to happen. I am sure this causes Amazon execs to despair.

I have seen it. So has Stan.

It warms my heart.

Actually, what I think we need is some signage. Our normal mail-person knows where to go to get us to come out and take a package. Others – not so much. Right now, a sign on the front door saying “Knock on (the other door) for package delivery” would probably help.

A few months back I pointed out to our weekday mail lady that the weekend guys were just not checking, and it got better for a while.

That will change once the Common Room moves.

We could put something on the door saying “Deliveries 7 days a week … please ring bell” … or something like that

Yeah, but we’ve got to have a working bell for that to work…

And, I’m thinking just a paper sign for the next couple of months.

If you are worried about being able to receive Amazon packages specifically, they have a number of delivery lockers in the area. Perhaps you could schedule delivery to one of those?
