Anybody else just get super relieved when the pic of the nit excellent isn’t you lol? There have been blades and all kinda things in there the other day. We can cut thicker letters in vinyl?
Anything used for makerspace on the vinyl cutter is free. So absolutely yes. This goes for any committee area.

I’m guessing a lot of this is “the broken window effect” where people throwing away scrap see that there is already large pieces of scrap in the barrel and think it doesn’t matter.

This particular one was really irritating because I and another member had just emptied that barrel about 2 hours prior. It was nearly empty. Which may be the reason - “hey empty trash can!”
In the past, I had thrown in larger pieces too. You are cutting and wanting to keep things tidey as you work, it’s easy to toss scrap into it, especially when it’s empty. I didn’t notice the message at first, but as soon as I noticed the sign, I pulled out the bigger pieces I had thrown in there. Newer folks are just not noticing the sign.
Not sure why it’s only for small scraps?
You know, I’m not sure either. I remember a similar rule from high school shop class. It may have something to do with walking up to a trash can with a dust pan full of sawdust and not having a place to dump it because all the trash cans are full of large scraps.

Our HS separates for the raku firing. Ok so grate with 2 in holes and more obvious letters (it doesn’t take long to run vinyl at all)

Nah I get it. Just trying to remove all excuses on case they end up deciding to put folks on blast in the future

Gedankenexperiment: put big day-glo radioactive 10 ft tall vinyl letters that also kick you in the crotch when you approach on all trash bins that say “do not fill past top/overflowing; empty into dumpster first!!!” What are you willing to bet that this has the intended effect, in general?
