Hey, there’s an issue with my wheel studs and I’m trying to determine if it’s worth limping my car over to DMS, or if I should just call in a mechanic. I need to figure out though if we have a tool to remove the wheel studs though. It apparently I also need to detach the rotor from the axle
First, you don’t need a stud puller, you can drive them out with a BFH. Getting the new in can be fun, but doable in situ.
BUT…
If you’re removing the drive flange anyway, arbor or hydraulic press would make quick work of removal and pressing in the new studs.
I know we have various 2/3/4 jaw pullers, but i don’t know if any are suited to that particular job, (drive flange removal) or if that particular job requires a puller. Many on Japanese brands simply unbolt…
If all else fails, the whole strut assy can be removed and brought in to use the press…
