Do returning members need recertification?

Hi y’all. I ended my membership for a few months due to covid but I am hoping to return in October. Do I need to redo my certifications? Specifically, for the sewing machine and the woodshop tools.

No you do not. Only reason you would is if the training changed.

Awesome! Thank you!

Make sure that you sign back up on your old account. Just use the same email to sign in. If you don’t remember your password, a password reset will go to that email.

That’s what links up your certifications. Oh, and you’ll need to reactivate your fob/card after you’re paid up. You can just reactivate the same one, if you’ve got it. Actually, you would have to have it, as you’ll need to input the number that’s on it.

This is a challenge though - unless people are ultra-active here on Talk, they might not know.

Woodshop in particular is my go-to for this. I’ve taken the woodshop course twice. Once with Tom as the chair and once with Brian. As far as I understand when we went to the 4x classes / make a breadboard they changed the requirements and hence I’m currently not allowed to use any power equipment in the woodshop until I take a refresher course. I’m not sure where else any of this is documented and I’m pretty darn active still.

A post was split to a new topic: Help With Returning Member and RFID

If you scan your badge at the reader dohickey in the common area, it will display your current privileges. AFAIK when there is a big training change like that, they whack everyone’s AD membership for the tool/area in question (even tools that don’t need to be badged-into).

This thread is a year old - I’ve now retaken Woodshop basics for the third time myself.
