I can’t say I am surprised. We went there in January, it was very empty.

The Dallas Craft Guild now has part of the old Valley View mall

AN ENTIRE MALL! YES! Now where did I put that spare… :astonished: 4.5 million dollars… oh…

(whishing I could use twitch emotes because I have great emotes for this)

Let s ask Mark Cuban to buy it for us, we can hve an area, nd then make another areas artist sudios and galleries

it would be nice as long as there no douches against parking a project for over 48 hours ( under 30 days though)

The land alone is on the tax rolls for $13.8 Million. I suspect it will sell for something like $15 Million to $20 million or more and will be razed to build apartments, business offices of medical office space. If we could get all 1500 of us to put up $10,000 - $20,000 each then we could probably buy it. This sounds crazy, but it would be quite an good investment I think. Lewisville is growing and booming so I’d guess that the real estate would appreciate quite nicely. We could lease some of the space to offset the costs, too.

Ok, my fantasy is over now.

isn’t Valley View getting torn down? I hope they land a good spot to move to.

This is too far from me. There is a nice 20,000 sqft+ mall at Spring Creek/75 in Plano that would be perfect!!! And it’s for rent!

Maybe a satellite makerspace?

Yah but the 75 corridor is taylormade for a real makerspace. Going west, makes more sense in the Ft Worth Area and East is the Plano area.

Heck another option, I’ve heard that cities will sell buildings for these types of commmunity non-profits for $1. I’m sure Dallas has plenty of buildings available.

2 interesting thoughts come to mind:

Any member with that kind of “skin in the game” would make darn sure things ran smoothly.

The mere thought of making all that tax exempt for a nonprofit would probably send the city council into convulsions.

Most of those “$1” buildings are effectively worth negative $500K - $10M.

now that could make for one hell of a multi-screen media room… Can I reserve one of the small theaters for 24X7 NES tetris playing / watching?

This location would be 3 minutes from my place -

Could we have our own indoor gun range for hatchers? @thatguy @Nick

I love it, lets do it! We could finance this and pay off in 5-10 years!

At the rate of our current rent it would take over three centuries to pay off. The “business” model would have to drastically change to make this happen. I would love to see something like this happen but 724K square feet is overkill.

A few million for 3 centuries!?

The appraisal is $34M. The auction is opening at $4.5M (which it won’t go for).

Lol so true … and could you imagine the build out costs!!!:flushed:

I’m OK with this in most cases.

My free spirited and not limited by real thinking brain fully supports this idea. In my imagination this works in an amazingly beautiful way.
