I’m not sure if you are aware but @CaryLW loaned us his dye sublimation heat press until we could test the waters on interest. He is a dye sublimation Saint. Today I brought up the abusively heavy Dms heat press. Once Cary takes his home ours will be moved into the cabinet. The dye sublimation press is one thing that you need to take the class on to use.
Asking for a tad of help:
My son is on the edge of sick right now and therefore home is a good place to be. If anyone see the dye sublimation cabinet empty and ours in the shipping box I would be most appreciative if anyone could pack our new one into the cabinet. I will try to come up possibly Saturday evening if need be to put it up if needed.
I won’t be up to the space until tomorrow to get your box from offsite storage. When I was there it was closed.
However, you can retrieve it - there are keys and a card hanging on the personal storage shelves in the warehouse/shop if you want to retrieve it early.
The new press is in the cabinet. For the record, I’m not a fan of it. A screwdriver is required to change out the heating elements. The mug press also bit me when I was investigating how to change the heater on it. It is not compatible with the heating units from Sublimation 101, so we will need to find another source if we want to make a standalone mug press.
Also, I replaced the Magenta cartridge in the printer.
I think it will work fine. It is just harder to change out heating elements, since you need a screwdriver. On a related note, the heat press did not come with any sort of documentation. Can you contact the seller, and find out where we can get some instructions for its use?
Or get the link from the manufacturer to the PDF & attach that to the wiki. I.e. Save the PDF & put that pdf in the wiki page not the actual link to the manufacturer since those links tend to change.
I was at the space last night tying to make a dye sub shirt on the new press. I put the flat plate on and for some reason I could not get the temperature to go above 67 degree. It was set to 350 and I gave it quite a bit of time but the temperature would not go up. It is quite possible it is user error since this is a slightly different press than the one used in the class.
I connected the wire from the plate to the control box and even checked the connection a couple of times.
I am still fairly new to the space so I created a ticket which I believe is the correct thing to do. If someone wants to show me how to fix it I am willing to become a trouble shooter for the dye sub equipment.
I was in there this weekend to take a look at the new press, but the mold making class was in the room, and I didn’t want to interrupt them. I haven’t had a chance to set up the new press and figure out the ins and outs of it, yet. I can’t make it by the space until Thursday evening, but will take a look at it then. I’ll see what I can figure out.
I did not see it in the cabinet the other day. Cary what time do you think you will be at the space? Maybe I can try and be there at the same time so I can make sure I am using it correctly.
