Just a friendly reminder that the DMS Ceramics space isn’t for personal storage. This means you should make sure to take your *items with you when you are done using the space. Teachers may store class-related items in the teacher’s cabinet if there is room (just remember to lock it up).
*Items include slip, glaze, buckets, tools, towels, and anything else that takes up valuable real estate in our prized space. If you leave items there they could be stolen, damaged, contaminated or tossed.
If you leave items they should be binned summarily. From just a cause and effect standpoint if every time I try to store something in a hidey-hole I come back and it’s gone, I’ll quit doing it.
I mean, sure, but everyone forgets an item sometimes. There is a difference between accidentally leaving your glaze brush on a table and trying to hide a set of tools somewhere.
I agree. Usually that’s when someone posts and says, “Hey I’m missing x, please keep your eyes peeled for it” or “hey I accidentally left x” to which someone from ceramics usually responds with “no problem, I’ve put it in the teacher’s cabinet” or safe location. One time I found a pocket watch in an apron; it had clearly been misplaced. It was @Monikat. This post is referring to members who might make leaving their items there in a habitual manner.
Mine was as well. Of course single occurrences should go to the lost and found shelf or have a post on talk.
Now you know the angst of Boo Radley.
Ceramics crew- this was left today. What is it and who does it belong to? who wears Reebok’s men’s size 9?
@AvalancheOfFox or @James_M or women wear men’s shoes now a days too so could be @Monikat or even @Anette_Henningson… detective Amanda on the case…
hah dang it. that’s definitely mine. I’ll likely be up tomorrow. I do have a personal storage bin or just let me know where it’s stashed and I can grab it
No biggie! The items are on the floor under the glazes. There’s also a jacket hanging that’s about to ascend to the DMS lost & found.
Also- who was there last night? Because the space was a disaster today.
There was clay all over the plaster wedge table, lots of dirty sponges and dust on the tables. Don’t want to be a Karen and ask for video footage but we can’t be trashing the space.
As a chair, you should have access to your areas video. Same goes for Vice-Chairs.
But I warn you, watching video sucks.
Myself and James were there slip casting but didn’t touch the plaster table. I’ll be sure to wash out any leftover community sponges out tonight when I come in though!
Hmmm… I don’t have access but how I would I go about getting access? I’m sure watching it bites. Have a full time job and active social life and two puppies.
That’s kind- appreciate your help to keep the space organized and clean.
Turn in a request to team_infrastructure… I do not have the time/bandwidth to service that request presently, and won’t until next week, but maybe one of our other friendly volunteers will be able to get to it…
cleaned all the sponges and wiped down the plaster table as well before i left tonight
Ross- you’re awesome! Probably too young to remember him but…
Thank you all-knowing One! You’re always so helpful!
