hi.
This place and this community has become very important to Ayden and I over the last year and I just wanted to take a minute to express thanks - might sound strange but whatever. Dms is a wonderful collection of tools and a fountain of potentially quenched curiosity but more importantly a community, a family…ok a bit of a rough and tumble family…but aren’t they the best anyways?
I think the magic of this place is that everyone wants good to come from it by what they create, what they can learn, or the relationships they foster. It’s also a place for people to share and openly explore passions. That’s truly a treasure in itself. It’s a safeplace, a workspace and a modern tinker village (also a napping corner, boxing ring, and tool shed).
Many many members work hundreds of extra hours to make sure this place can be of service to others. This place is the child that the village grew.
My son recieved a box of wood for Christmas (thank you wood shop trash cans) and I’m not kidding you he said “now I’m a maker” and, even with all his other toys, he started hammering away making a little wooden person. His excitement won’t stop as long as I bring him Dms and all of YOU as he grows. I hope you understand the value of that to me as a parent.
I tip my hat to the early members who struggled with money, space, and the challenges that came with handling growth. I tip my hat to the people bringing new energy and ideas no matter how that might shift the waters and get people typing fast. Im most appreciative that this place isn’t a warehouse because its grown out of heart.
Anyways, this might seem silly to some but I really don’t care. I just think it’s important to say thank you every once in awhile. So, thanks and I can’t wait to see what comes out of this place in a years time.
Ps clean up after yourself.
