Discourse (talk) irritation with search

Is there an option to turn off “intercept search keys” in the configuration?

I’m used to typing “/” then text to search – in the current page. Result? Talk opens up its search thing and tries to search across all articles. Same thing with CTRL-F.

Irritating.

I haven’t found an option for turning it off. If you can find a plugin or something that does it, I’ll get it setup.

If you find a plugin that may be beneficial to the forum ask if @AndrewLeCody or @bscharff can implement it. Or open a ticket with the link

Sorry thats not an answer for you but I honestly don’t know what your looking for with the search buttons

Edit. Damn he beat me to it by seconds

Just tried it here, with Firefox 45.0.1 and ctrl-f work as expected, opening the “search box” at the bottom and finding on the page.
/ does not. It opens the Discourse talk.

Might be a browser thing, eh?

Or I might have tried Ctrl-F right after “/” and not completely gotten focus back from Discourse’s search box.

Here’s some background info on why Discourse works this way:

It’s open-source, right? Want I should hack that option into it?

After reading the reasoning behind it, I’d only install a plugin that makes it a per-user option.

ALWAYS open a ticket! The ticketing system is meant to be a one-stop shop for any issues and requests (except billing issues, which must be handled internally with the billing system due to the financial information involved).

Meh. The ticket system is useful, but this is a look-and-feel, hack-it-the-way-we-want-it thing and not “3d printer is on fire” or “men’s restroom smells like dead skunk”.

So? If Pearce hadn’t had posted that Andrew runs Talk, how would you have submitted the request?

Yeah, that would have been one of the great unresolved mysteries of our time.
