I find that I need a digital project organizer that allows me to keep track of my ideas and projects.
Before I reinvent the wheel, does anyone already know of a resource for creatives that allows us to list our projects, keep track of supplies, training needed, and material costs / project costs, and then track our hours invested and also the project status so that we FINISH what we start and if we are making items to sell we can better determine a fair and reasonable market price based upon work, materials, and costs involved?
I want a Maker Digital Project Organizer that shows me bars/graphics of stages of completion that way visually I can see where I am at on a project and determine how I best want to invest my time at the Dallas Makerspace.
If there is something like this already developed into a Makers App - even better- that way I can upload images for ideas as well as my own projects in steps and stages and check from my phone.
I use Monday at work (Monday.com) for project management. It’s very user-friendly — I have been able to use it without formal training. There’s a “2 seat” free version and it exports data in spreadsheet form should you decide to move to a different system or backup your data. It can also store project files and it’s capable of versioning, although there’s probably a storage cap on the free version.
I purchased some printable project organizer templates off Etsy to get a feel for what others have done and what I like / don’t like about those options. I will create a print copy for binders/folders by developing my own print media Project Organizer docs.
Also plan on having a chat with my in-house Excel Spreadsheet Guru (i.e. my husband, Mike) to see what he can develop for me / with me. He speaks the language of data management, analytics, pivot tables, and spreadsheets like no one else I know.
The mobile app option might be too much of a reach at the moment.
Hello,
Another a well known app for projects is Jira, They do have a free plan.
You didn’t say if this was just for your personal projects or not. I will assume personal projects, however if you are volunteering to do a project for a committee at the space DMS has Jira to track those committee projects.
IT volunteers can help if your are looking to track committee projects.
Hi Jerry,
The digital project organizer I am looking for is to organize and track my projects and ideas. I want to ensure I, specifically, am tracking time spent and any costs on items I make to sale and have the data I need for tax purposes, etc.
The digital tool I have in mind might be able to help organize the Committee projects, etc but is not designed with them in mind.
I will take a look at Jira and thank you for that suggestion.
