Didn't see a heat press

I just joined earlier this week and took the tour & picked up my access card tonight. Whoop whoop! My head was on a swivel like a kid in a candy store!

I didn’t notice a heat press in the CA room. I’m primarily a leather crafter, but also do paper & vinyl work on a small scale and made some killer T-shirts for a service group I’m in using heat transfer vinyl instead of silkscreening. I’ve also done some silkscreening, but am DEAD sold on HTV after having worked with it on very intricate designs. I shopped them after completing my T-shirt project and there is not just a huge difference in price, but an equal disparity in quality in these machines with Hotronix and Geo. Knight (both made in the US) leading the pack. The machine I used was a friend’s Hotronix clamshell she had for her business. They can also be used for applique work and photo mounting. Do you think there would be sufficient interest in this type of machine to add to the DMS?

I noticed the DMS T-shirt rack was looking a little sparse…wink wink nudge nudge…

At a previous job, I used a press for dye sublimation and HTV and they worked pretty well. May have been our material, I just recall weeding HTV was a pain in the neck, but I’m sure it’s less of a hassle than screen printing. Could be a good route to take, maybe @Nick has some experience with that? Any thoughts?

@CPanda Lol…weeding all that tiny intricate stuff with a pick and xacto knife just tickles my CDO, dude.

Do you mean, OCD? Sorry, have to ask.

Yep, but CDO puts the letters in alphabetical order…as they SHOULD be…grins.

BTW, you said you do leather craft… have you thought about doing classes on it? It’s something I’ve been wanting to learn.

I have! Would like to get checked out on the laser cutter - that would open up ALL kinds of creative doors with my leatherwork.
