Didn t know 3 D could do this

At Funky Finds this weekend, one booth was taking 3 d body scans of folks,
then they were using a 3 D printer to print figurines in sandstone They came out colored
and Were very neat I think he said they took about 2 hrs to printe and before they were ready

I am sure that the at scanner and printer is very costly

Sandstone printing is costly, it’s basically a white powder and an inkjet head that prints layer by layer with a binder. Then the prints have to be dusted off and blown out, usually dipped in CA glue to make it less brittle. The scanning is pretty cool but they probably don’t account for the time it takes to clean up the 3D models.

Only service I know is Captured Dimensions locally but it is very pricey to do.

I will find the name of the folks that were at Funky Finds, One of thme mentioned doing it at the State Fair last year

a 3 in tall figure was $60-$70 and a 5 inchs one was over a hunted

I couldn t afford one but if wasn t on a budget I might have considered it

Saw that at an Expo in China several years ago. Pretty cool.
