I ask because mine has started to show signs of the same issue with not being able to tighten properly. Wondering if we discovered a solution or just bought a new plate.
If you mean the screws to tighten the pivot & spring. Pretty much no way to fix if the aluminum threads are stripped. Very easy to do.
Personally I just bought several on Amazon. Think they were $17/each.

Are Helicoil Inserts possible?
The insert tool makes it too expensive for a small project but this is a tool that either Machine, Metal or Auto may consider buying. They are very useful.

Yeah, that would be great. Re-tapping the threads would probably help a lot.
