The DART Silver Line is under construction from Shiloh Road in Plano to UTD, Carrollton and DFW airport. It is planned to run 60-90 trains per day. They have just updated lane closures in my area and it sounds like an incoming disaster. Following is a clip from my Dallas city council person. Below that is a link to the project page. If your route crosses this rail line, you may want to see if roads in your area will be effected.
Wednesday, December 7 - DART Cotton Belt/Silver Line meeting at Texas AgrilLife building. 7 pm. At the last meeting, DART announced construction on Coit will cause traffic to be restricted to one lane each direction for approximately 8 months while Hillcrest is reduced to one lane each direction. They said they had worked closely with the city, but the Assistant City Manager in attendance, Robert Perez, said he had not heard of it. I had not heard of it. When asked, they admitted they had not talked to the Fire Chief or anyone in the police department about it. The status of Coit Road during construction is unclear. Some say it was a tactic to divert attention away from the permanent design change on Coit. Dart is now saying they will build the road “hump” over the tracks 17’ in the air, a change from the Inter Local Agreement (ILA) and City Manager T.C. Broadnax has indicated he will allow it.
