Dallas site seeing at night, where should I go?

So I have two friends in town from Germany and they want to see the sites in Dallas tomorrow night. They are both budding photographers so I wanted to take them to some interesting places down town. We are going to photograph the skyline at sunset, I have a cool spot for this already. But, where should I take them once it is Dark?

Thanks,
Nick

Downtown FW is really nice.

Depending on lenght of visit and time of year, I take firends/family to:

  • Reunion tower restaurant for a drink/snack in the early afternoon (so they can see all of Dallas)
  • JFK Grassy Knoll & Cenotaph
  • Mesquite Rodeo (open most of the time)
  • Sun-dance Square, FTW (i.e. PM’s suggestion)
  • Gun Range (often st time any of them have shot a pistol)

Yeah it is a cool area, but outside our feasible area for Tuesday. We have dinner plans at 9:30 pm in Dallas. Was hoping to find some cool lit up areas in Dallas. Are there any light based art things in Dallas right now?

Man, had they been here a few weeks ago, they could have taken great picks of Dallas from the state fair Ferris wheel. Many buildings in downtown have an observation deck. They might be able to get some pictures say from a parking garage, maybe Baylor parking garage might have a good vantage point. Then there is the former Continental bridge, that’s now a pedestrian bridge. That you could take facing east.

So I haven’t been to reunion tower since middle school, so that sounds awesome, plus it isn’t far from my skyline photography spot so that would be a great place to catch a drink, is there anything special to getting in there?

I don’t think so. Have a shuftie here: https://dartdallas.dart.org/2014/10/20/destination-dart-reunion-tower/.

Also, it’s a relatively nice place, so your Makerspace attire would probably not be appropriate

We are taking pictures from fair park. I made a contract at the cotton Bowl and we are going to photograph the city from the roof of the announcers booth.

Cool, we will be in nice jeans or slacks and polos. Think that is nice enough?

I think so…but I don’t run the place!

If you venture over into Deep Ellum you can get great street art shots and amazing sunset skyline shots. Green Room and others on Elm are good for that.

The old Texas Commerce Bank tower for one.

Thinking about hitting the west end as well, there is a cool spot that has a nice view of the green giant at night.

Think about the herd of bronze cattle near the convention center.

Not quit Dallas. The bronze horses in Las Colinas. They are one of the most photographed items in Dallas.

Also, pictures of Downtown from the west side are pretty spectacular. Reunion Area is center in those pictures.

Clyde Warren park.
