That incredible teapot desperately needs to be in the next Blade Runner movie (dark stylistic science fiction). Just imagine the antagonist carefully preparing a tasty beverage while outlining their plan for world domination finally resting their hand on that gorgeous teapot then slowly pouring a cup for the captive hero.

(Also works well for other genres / situations.)

Thanks! I needed that visual to unwind my mind. :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:

My class ceramic solo cup is finished. Next time I will try a mold trimmer for a smoother edge but I’m very happy with it as-is. Slip casting could definitely become an addiction.

Nice. Only 19 more to go and you’ll have a beer pong game set!

It’s been a while since I’ve show and telled.
this is my latest 3d carved pen with a basket weave texture. this is done using a rotary fixture (4th axis) on my home CNC. basically the body carving is 50/1000th in height and gives a nice tactile feel. I wish DMS had a 4th axis - I could show some pretty cool stuff. cheers!

I had a request from a friend to create some plaques for a local schools sports teams. Given a few logo’s and a list of all the kids, coaches and aswell as photos I set about creating these. Started them last week, bit of a rush, so you may catch some imperfections.

Started out with the Multicam and some good old Home Depot birch ply, carving out the schools main logo as well as the area for the names etc. I got lucky, in that I didn’t hit a single void in the wood.

After carving, i got them home for clean up with a dremel, and then after sanding I sprayed with some polyurethane.

While that dried, I used Illustrator, along with the exact measurements of the lower space, to lay out the names, numbers, coaches, sports and year. Ready for Lasering!

(not shown here, were all the guidelines I had for spacing them symetrically)

Anyhoo, breathing a sigh of relief as the lasering was nailed on first attempt (500 speed, 20 power). I was very happy, as i had zero spare’s to replace any mistakes.

Having the poly sprayed on before lasering, and using denatured alcohol afterwards made for a super fast and easy clean up.

All that was left now was finding a solution for the edges (ugly ply) and then hanging hardware.

Built a quick jig to hold the plaque while i worked on it. Fancy stuff.

Tried using some ‘real birch’ edging strips. Typically i have zero faith in them holding on, but i gave them a go. Once again, zero room for screwing up. Edging went on really well (photo just showing its initial section holding. Happy Limey

Hanging hardware, not much to report. Made them all the same length etc, so that the hanging person has an easy day.

End result was 5 pretty plaques and one happy friend.(5th plaque was waiting in my car and not available for final photoshoot) (pay no mind to my overly messy garage

Overall, consumed one sheet of 4’x8’ birch plywood, 2 cans of deft gloss polyurethane spray, lots of sandpaper, ‘real birch’ edging from home depot, hanging thingimajigs and wire, utility knife blades to clean up edging, superglue to glue shut hole in finger made by utility knife blade, denatured alcohol to clean lasering and blood spots from hole in finger, several caffination cycles, and my sanity.

LED’d the Mouser sign in the electronics lab. It’s also bluetooth(SP105e) so everyone can play with it. Just scan the Android or Apple QR Code (Codes are sitting by catalogs & attached). Specs are 12V WS2811 protocol 43 pixels length “GRB” not “RGB”
