Sorry to be dense, but do we get included under the commercial entity portion?

I didn’t see institutions of higher learning or religious centers……both of which I consider DMS.

Yes we are a commercial entity

Heard this morning that Abbott was going to strike this down.

Not saying I agree, or that he’ll be successful, but that’s what I heard…

We discussed that when we voted last night. It’s unfortunate for us and really any charity that has to comply because unlike a regular business we have to vote rules in or out.

In the long run though we see it as a member safety issue. We have too many members who are at risk or have family members at risk to take a chance on it.

The rule could be members need to comply with all applicable mandates. So when the county or whatever does something different with masks just get the word out instead of trying to change the rules.

Yeah, the problem is it means we have no idea at any given moment which rule is in place. Is someone breaking the rule or did they just get a tweet from the governor 2 minutes ago… We stress our volunteers enough already, asking them to be minute current on what the current government pissing match is just isn’t fair to them.

We have already had people carry food around DMS without eating it just so they could try to walk around without a mask. We would get bogged down with arguments about the latest mandate and people making stuff up and having to stop and fact check. We would have to deal with people who think YouTube conspiracy theories = news. Also, everything that @mrjimmy posted.

As someone who lives near a three-county border, I have to say I ain’t got time for that. If a place I’m going wants me to wear a mask (or a shirt, or shoes  ) put up a sign.

Safest to assume that the order carries the force of law until the courts have ruled one way or another - especially since the mandate is hardly novel and costs almost nothing to implement.

Also from a realpolitik perspective, local officials are a heck of a lot closer to DMS than Austin.

I think that’s where this comes in

That shit is hilarious and yeah there’s tons of parallels.

Fair enough. I don’t have a dog in this fight and I don’t have to deal with it either way. I’m wired to look for efficiency but that’s not always the most important factor.

Judge Clay Jenkins ordered another set of restrictions for the Delta variant of Covid in Dallas County. Anyone can see the boom in caseloads here: Texas Coronavirus Map and Case Count - The New York Times

The attack angle of the contagion spike is more severe than the last 2 spikes. This is worrisome. Missouri and Britain are beginning to roll off, hopefully this will be our fate.

No. Not anyone can see because you have to have a NYT subscription to access the article. So if you have access can you check to be sure the cases in Texas were not over reported as in the Washington Post and Texas Tribune? Which means cross checking the CDC numbers with the NYT numbers assuming the CDC has corrected their reporting since getting the Florida numbers wrong. Stop trying to justify the order from Jenkins.

Personally I think the snowflakes that can’t bring themselves to do something as simple as wearing a mask should be forced to work as orderlies in a local Covid ward.

And that’s a wrap folks.
