Cutting 1/4 inch steel/ aluminum to shapes

Hi,
I need to cut about 1/4 inch steel/ aluminum sheets into the shape similar to the one in the picture below

I think the plasma cutter would be the right tool to do this, but I’m not sure.
And if the plasma cutter would be the right tool for the job, would anybody be willing to train me on how to use it?

Do you have any tolerance requirements? For scale what’s the radius on the semicircle edges?

Either the plasma or something in the machine shop, but the ideal one will depend on how clean and precise it needs to be.

For plasma training you need the hot process safety (or prior welding safety from the old classes) and the plasma instruction itself

@dryad2b and @tomthm are currently teaching hot process safety, and the plasma has been less consistent recently.

Normally, the first Saturday of every month from 12-6 is our metal shop committee meeting and I commit to teaching anyone who volunteers during the cleanup and thing in the metal shop.

However, this particular Saturday I will be out. I’m already looking to see what I can squeeze this week since there is some other training that needs to be signed off, so if you have time during an evening this week drop me a message with your availability and I’ll see what I can work in.

Most of the part doesn’t have to be perfect. the semicircle edges radius is probably around 1/8 of an inch.
And I can come in any night this week after Monday. I will be leaving town on Friday though.
So I am available Tuesday Wednesday (after 7:30) and Thursday.
