I won’t be attending the meeting but if I may suggest a topic on when about the dye sub printer will be fixed? I also heard possibility on purchase of new a printer?

Maybe @CaryF300 can supply the meeting with some quotes on new printers. I know we have been talking about getting a larger printer, now might be a good time.

I will be at the meeting, and will bring dye sub printer information.

Will do. My weekend just got busy again so at the very least you’ll get a report from me if I can’t make the actual meeting.

If you can’t make it send me a DM on if you need leather scrap. It’s cast offs from a purse company so mostly strips and small sections or repeated shapes but there is a ton of it

will do. thank you. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx

lol. that’s not kisses it’s characters to hit 20

I’m excited for this year’s 10x10. I’m hoping that PR (@Adam_Oas) will take the lead on it though as it’s a DMS Wide event (not to say Creative Arts won’t help run it)

Also paging @Diplomat to see where his French cleats plan is at

French cleats, sanding and painting are starting next week. Wall sanding is going to be horrible. The painted lines to the different rooms have to be smoothed out. Anticipate dust.

Volunteers are needed.

The plan is to post here and have both a hallway / woodshop workstation. So people can volunteer time if they are interested. Having 20 people sand or spackle for 15 minutes each gets LOTS of work finished. That is going to be the ugliest aspect of this project.

1A. Sand the hallways smooth.
1B. Spackle all holes
1C. Blue tape the metal door frames and other hallway fixtures.
1D. Paint the hallways
1E. Cleanup after painting.

There is a wood shop aspect to the ceiling rails. The rails to hang the French cleat rails will be 3" x 8’ pine.
2A. They will need a 45 degree cut.
2B. Do a fancy router cut on the bottom edge to make the rails prettier.
2C. Basic sand and paint after that
2D. Installation in the hallways AFTER sanding and painting of said hallways.

2x4 wood shop item.
3A. Cut 2x4 to French Cleat shape.
3B. Need approximately 150 pieces.
4C. Drill holes for each piece for monofilament line.
3C. Sand and paint.

Should be 2 weeks to completion. Starting Friday of next week.

All hands are welcome. In advance, thanks for the help.

Awesome, look forward to seeing it!

Hopefully i will have some time to help with part 2. Do we know if the router has a schedule for being fixed?

Honestly, you/we would be better off sanding to roughen the wall, then a light skim coat. This should be done with lightweight joint compound. If we get the coats light enough, we can just take a damp sponge to smoothen out. This will hide the lines, as sanding them down to smooth it will be very time consuming.

The end game, is it really worth the effort to do?

Plus once this is done, why not just hit it with a knockdown texture that “hides” a lot of flaws? From there it a simple roll and cut in paint job.

Any way a half crippled, half blind lady can help

The walls are smooth now. For art work, smooth works better. ALL the other walls are smooth so to keep the walls looking the same, they need to be kept the same.

I fiddled with filling the lines, that has challenges too. Look next to the lecture hall for the test area.

Sanding will be a PITA event. Fully acknowledge.

If anyone has great experience with getting walls smooth, I am open to coaching. Please PM me.
