What I did was hit the link from my phone, but it signed me with my phone’s email, which said somebody had to accept me. I dialed it direct and it worked, but I assume you’d already hung up?
I proposed $1K to request from the board, but Judi thought that we ought to prove some demand. I went ahead and tabled it for next month. I didn’t have a machine in sight, and I think I need to do some research on which Juki model we need to do heavier materials. As I was looking on FB Marketplace, there were quite a few different models.

I have just become a new member. I am a certified Master Fabric Craftsman and I am consulting with a trade show exhibit company here in Grapevine Texas www.tradegroup.com. I will be developing a new department within their existing facility to manufacture Tension Fabric Exhibits (TFE). If you go to the web site you will see these TFE structures mostly depicted in the over head hanging signs. The TFE structures’ are made with an aluminum internal frame which is covered with dye sublimated fabric graphics.
I joined for two reasons:

The company, The Trade Group is looking to hire an experienced industrial sewing machine operator. This position would be a permanent full time job with many benefits. The work place environment is indoor, clean and environmentally controlled. I am hoping that there is a Job Board at the facility or online where I may post this position. I noticed in this blog that you folks mention Juki and Consew machines. These are precisely the machines that we use at the Grapevine facility.

I would like to offer a class where I would teach the art of creating Shade Sails using the theory and methodology of forming a hyperbolic parabola (saddled shapes) with woven textiles such as nylon, canvas and other outdoor fabrics.
I hope that this is an appropriate use of my membership. Please review and advise. I look forward to hearing from you.

I have a brochure showing photos of my shade sail work. Perhaps this would help spark interest.
Are there any sewing machine on the premises? I can repair most industrial machines.

Hi. The majority of our members are amateurs, talented, but not working at a professional level. There may be someone who is looking for work, but that’s up to them.
Currently, we have a number of Babylock Zests, a home machine that suits most of the member needs. We have a Thor. We sold the ConSew, and are considering a Jukie. Not so much because we have members who will be sewing at a commercial volume, but because those machines typically can handle thicker levels of fabric. We do get folks wanting to sew upholstery or heavy canvas. Lighter than the level that the Thor does, but heavier than our home machines can handle.
I would put a post in the Job Listings category, which is part of the Off Topic category. We do have a board over by the Orange Classroom which you can post items.
You are quite welcome to offer a class. Our class system is a bit wonky, compared to most educational groups. The Calendar/Events, where classes are posted, isn’t designed for multiple sessions. Most of our classes are a one-day “seminar”. There are project classes as well, but it’s been a bit odd if it takes more that one day to complete the project. I personally gave up on using the multiple session setting in the Calendar when it let someone sign up for the 2nd day of a 3-part class.
I would recommend posting the class information in a separate post. While I’m a dedicated reader, and read Everything, some that might be interested won’t read a post titled CA Meeting. This is the right category, so that people who limit their reading to specific categories as a simple way to filter out noise will likely see a post here. An easy way to post in this category is to click the line below the post topic, where it says Creative Arts. That way you don’t have to scroll through all the Categories.
